Hello - we are RIZON
Born in the heart of Zurich in 1997, Rizon started as a spark between young musicians with big dreams. Nearly three decades later, that spark is still burning — and has grown into a distinctive voice in the Swiss melodic rock and metal scene.
Our songs receive regular airplay on rock and indie radio stations, and we’ve played more than 100 shows over the years, including renowned stages such as Z7 and Rock im Aathal.
Along the way, the music press has taken notice. Rizon has received strong reviews from Rock Hard, Powerplay — including Album of the Month — and Metal Hammer, while Metalworld dedicated a double-page feature to the band. Metal-Inside summed it up best: “They fucking rock it!”
For us, it’s always been about the same thing: writing songs we believe in, playing them loud, and keeping that original spark alive.
Matt
Vocals
Every band has an origin story. Ours started with Matt, a booking, a microphone, and absolutely no band. Back in 1997, our frontman Matt got booked for a show… without actually having a band. Instead of backing out, he started one to save his ass. Nearly three decades later, he’s still behind the mic, tearing through everything from savage growls to clean vocals and owning the stage as Rizon’s frontman. Off stage, he’s our sound engineer, shaping the sound, pushing the limits, and making damn sure we hit as hard as we fucking can.
Leigh
Vocals
Leigh joined Rizon as the newest member in 2025. Having already built her artistic footprint through various projects under her former name, Nathalie Mank, she now brings her powerful vocal energy to the band’s latest musical chapter. Based in the Schaffhausen area, Leigh has one essential pre-show ritual: a warm cup of herbal tea. Because even rock stars need their vitamins — just preferably in a mug.
Reto
Guitar
Born in the Rhine Valley, where the “A” is almost as sharp as his guitar riffs, Reto has been shaping the Rizon sound since Power Plant with crushing rhythm guitars and great lead work. The Academy of Contemporary Music Switzerland helped sharpen his skills. The rest came from years of playing loud, playing fast, and doing things the Ostschweizer way: quietly, stubbornly, and until it fucking works.
Chris
Guitars
Chris has been holding down the low end on guitar since day one. As Matt’s brother, he was the first to join him and help turn that infamous 1997 booking into an actual band. He firmly believes every guitar is one string short. And when he realized that great solos require actual practice, he took the easier route and added a low B instead. Turns out, the band still needed someone to play the solos. Enter Reto — the lead guitarist, and the guy who apparently had the patience for it.
Marco
Keyboards
Keyboardist. Songwriter. Arranger. Creative mind. Marco has been with Rizon since day one, back in 1997 — and honestly, it’s pretty unfuckingbelievable how long it’s been. He’s not just been part of the band’s evolution; he’s been one of the driving forces behind it. His keyboards, songwriting and arrangements have played a defining role in shaping the Rizon sound. Still going strong. Still creating. And definitely looking forward to whatever comes next.
Maik
Bass
Our sportsman Maik has been our bassist for more than a decade — and somehow, we still haven’t convinced him to play six strings. The chemist made his album debut on Power Plant in 2016 and has been keeping Rizon’s low end heavy, tight, and appropriately grumpy ever since.

Drums
The rhythm machine behind Rizon! A passionate progressive rock and metal enthusiast, Tom has been shaping the signature Rizon groove since our first official album, Evolution. With his distinctive playing style and relentless energy, he’s been a cornerstone of the band from the very beginning. His drumming doesn’t just keep the beat — it drives the music forward.
